Fireworks hunting
StandardThe girl and I last night decided that, instead of going to a big display, we would make a large thermos of hot chocolate and go firework hunting in the car. Among our successes was this lovely spot in the hills of Hertfordshire where we could watch the London fireworks from afar.

StandardMost Southampton fans, of my age at least, will cite Matt Le Tissier as their favourite player. Those who are a bit older may say Mick Channon, or maybe even Terry Paine, Ron Davies, Alan Ball or Kevin Keegan. I’m not sure who the kids go for nowadays. And let us not even get started on the long list of Saints players who have left for pastures new and gone on to stardom.

StandardYou didn’t give in to the hate and didn’t shy away from the inevitable misogynist backlash. Not only was there canonically no reason at all not to cast a female as the 13th Doctor, but there was actually every reason to do it. Because after over 50 years of white male Doctors, now was without a doubt the time to finally expand beyond that. Rebirth and reinvention is at the absolute core of the show. Peter has been magnificent (as were Chris, David and especially Matt) and there’s every reason to hope that even better times await.
