So whether he stays or not I can’t say for the moment but dear me, if he isn’t a lovably imposing fella. Amazingly articulated for something of this size, too.
I’ve been playing about with coloured backgrounds. Until now I’ve used either a black cloth paired with a reflective black board or white cloth with reflective white board.
Toyworld Spaceracer is a right odd one. Out of the box I didn’t know whether I was going to love him or hate him. A 2 Star figure? A 4 Star figure? Could easily be either. Am hoping to get him in the lightbox for some proper snaps soon as I have simply must write about him.
This afternoon I’ve been playing with Toyworld Cosmos and the thing that has occupied most of my thoughts is how he’s such a completely unknown quantity. He’s unlike anything I’ve handled before, and it’s frying my brain. Grinder is on the exact opposite end of the spectrum. If you have experience of the Fanstoys Dinobots, you will know precisely what to expect from him.

I’ve been playing about with Lightroom a bit more, tinkering with shots taken for previous reviews. I definitely think I’m getting far better image clarity than I was with Photoshop. Note too that the images I’ve been using are jpegs. Theoretically I should get even better results by setting the camera to save in RAW format.
In all instances the original Photoshop image is either left or top, with the Lightroom version right or bottom.
So until now I’ve been snapping pics as jpegs and then fiddling about with them in Photoshop. Following the lead of fellow Transformers collector Maz, instead here I’ve played with snapping in RAW format and then tinkering in Lightroom. Better? Worse? I have literally no idea.
I’m still not sure if I prefer him to MP-08, but Fanstoys Grinder is certainly a looker.
Thanks to the very kind people at Kapow, I’ve been lucky enough to get some hands-on time with one of Fanstoys’ most anticipated upcoming releases, FT-10 Phoenix. A couple of peeps in the collecting circles I move in rubbed their hands with glee at the news, I think in preparation for an anticipated mauling. Well, there’s good news and bad news…
The review is very close now. What are we thinking for a score out of five?
